Steve Vai Jemini Distortion

Filed under: Effects — admin @ 6:35 am

Ibanez has teamed up with Steve Vai to create another stomp box for its arsenal. The Jemini distortion features not one, but two distortion pedals and types, just dripping with that signature Steve Vai sound. Not only is this pedal ear catching, but it is also eye catching. The Jemini has one crazy psycadelic paint job with swirls and crazy colors just plastered all over its metal stomp box body.
If you want to learn more you can check it out at the Ibanez page. It features a really informative, yet amusing video featureing Steve Vai and Steve Vai. It is worth a watch.

JOE STRUMMER TELECASTER by Fender

Filed under: Guitars — admin @ 11:15 am

IN HONOR OF STRUMMER, FAMED ARTIST AND DESIGNER

SHEPARD FAIREY CREATES CUSTOMIZED ART KIT TO ACCOMPANY GUITAR

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The legacy of punk rock legend Joe Strummer continues to live on and grow louder with the release of Fender’s new Joe Strummer Telecaster guitar. Designed with the guidance and support of the Strummer estate and featuring distressed “road-worn” treatment, a “Revolution Rock” engraved neckplate and a limited edition art customization kit, the Joe Strummer Telecaster will be available at music product retailers worldwide beginning July 2007.

Forward-thinking cultural icon Joe Strummer (1952-2002) was co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead singer of seminal British punk rock band the Clash. He later founded, recorded and toured with the Mescaleros. All his life, Strummer vigorously championed individuality, self-expression and change—tenets often reflected in the constantly altered look of his favorite and most recognizable instrument—his Telecaster (currently on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland).

The Joe Strummer Telecaster is modeled after the ’66 Telecaster Strummer played throughout most of his career. Although the guitar’s appearance changed often, it was a fairly standard ’60s-era Telecaster with all the original parts and specifications.

When Strummer bought it in 1975 for £120, the instrument had a three-color sunburst finish, but he soon had it sprayed with gray primer at a London auto shop, and then later added a coat of black paint. These new “finishes” deteriorated quickly, giving the guitar its distinctive look. Like Strummer’s music, the battered guitar changed constantly—plastered as it was with stencils, stickers and new paint jobs through the many stages of Strummer’s life and career.

To celebrate Strummer’s fierce sense of individuality, Fender and acclaimed artist Shepard Fairey collaborated on the new guitar’s special Joe Strummer Telecaster Customization kit, which includes stencils and stickers inspired by the custom designs Strummer decorated many of his instruments with. The kit comes in a classic 12” album cover featuring Shepard Fairey graphics and photography by Bob Gruen. This collectable album art set is a limited edition companion to the first 1,500 guitars.

Gibson Les Paul HD6XPro : High definition Guitar

Filed under: Guitars — admin @ 9:48 am

For just $4000.00 you can start revolutionizing music with your very own High Definition Les Paul Guitar.

You may be saying, “WOW! that is a lot for a guitar! Will it mow my lawn?” No, it doesn’t mow your lawn, it’s just a guitar, but it is a very special guitar. This guitar has a special pickup that actually tracks each individual pickup separately. What does that mean? Well using the break out box that comes with the guitar you can actually place different effects / amps / and just about anything else on each individual string. For example you could place a distortion effect on the top 3 strings and a chorus effect on the bottom 3. The possibilities are endless.

The guitar was displayed at Namm last August 2006, but I haven’t heard anything new about it. You can purchase the guitar at now, but it isn’t available at hardly any other music shops. I suppose the demand isn’t outrageously high at the moment, so I suspect that explains the limited availability. Whatever the case, I suspect this type of guitar will become more prominent in the future expecially since the data from the guitar is being sent to the Break out box via Ethernet cable. For more info on this wildly innovative guitar check out Gibson’s Digital Guitar Site Check out the video below
